THE PHOTO SIZE GUIDE

A smaller photo.
A smoother upload.

A form asking for a photo under 200KB is asking about the file’s data size, not the image’s width. A large iPhone photo may need both JPEG compression and fewer pixels to fit.

Three things to check first

RequirementWhat it means
File size200KB, 500KB or 1MB: the maximum amount of image data.
PixelsWidth and height, such as 600 × 800. Separate from file size.
FormatJPEG/JPG, PNG or HEIC. Use the format your destination accepts.

When using Sizelyt on iPhone

  1. Choose the original from Photos or Files.
  2. Select 200KB, or the limit your form specifies.
  3. Tap Make it fit. Check the actual output size and pixel dimensions.
  4. Open the quality preview. Look closely at faces and small text.
  5. Use Save or share JPEG → Save to Files, then select that saved JPEG in the upload form.

Sizelyt is being prepared for App Store release. These instructions describe the built iPhone app. It is not yet available for download.

The free daily allowance

Free use supports one photo at a time and up to 10 successful conversions per local day at 100, 200, 500 KB or 1 MB. Failures and cancellations do not count; re-converting counts again. The allowance resets when your device’s local date changes. Clearing working files or action counts does not reset it. Pro has no daily limit and supports batches of up to 20 photos.

Why not just choose a lower JPEG quality?

A quality percentage does not map to a fixed file size. Fine textures often need more bytes than a plain background. Sizelyt checks encoded bytes and reduces pixel dimensions when necessary.

KB or KiB?

Sizelyt uses the stricter decimal measure: 1KB = 1,000 bytes. A 200KB output is strictly below 200,000 bytes. The app does not add padding to reach a form’s minimum file size.

Still getting an error?

Check the required dimensions, aspect ratio and minimum file size. Also check that you selected the exported JPEG rather than your original HEIC. Official document and passport requirements can include background, framing and recency rules; this app does not validate them.
